Concert for the opening of 52nd Musical evenings in St. Donat

July 30th, 2012

Dear readers,

we are announcing the special concert for the opening of 52nd Musical evenings in St. Donat.

On Thursday, July 5th 2012, at the ancient Roman square in Zadar, at 21.30 p.m., Zadar's conductor Edo Mičić with his orchestra Savaria and soloists Bože Jurić-Pešić (tenor) i Željko Zaplatić (baritone) will present two jewels of Zadar's archive from 19th century - overture to the opera "La madre slava" written by Nikola Strmić and Motetto nella Messa per la solennita di Santa Anastasia by Luigi Basinello. Strmić and Basinello were working during the climax of the musical life in Zadar which possessed two theatres (Teatro nobile and Teatro nuovo).  Opera "La madre slava", dedicated to J. J. Strossmayer, is pinnacle of Strmić's musical creativity. After experiencing a little piece of Zadar's musical heritage of the 19th century, the Hungarian orchestra will present one of the greatest works of the slavenian composer - magnificent Ninth Symphony written by Antonin Dvořak.

We invite you to attend the Special Opening evening with the sound of great music!
