We are announcing the ninth concert of the cycle of ten top notched concerts of summer music festival, 52nd Musical Evenings in St. Donat.
On Wednesday, August 8 2012, beginning at 9 p.m., musical audience of Ceremonial Hall of the University in Zadar will be honored by the great Czech ensemble, SMETANA TRIO. Founded in 1934 by the legendary Czech pianist Josef Páleníček, Trio became and remained onee of the best chamber ensembles of classical music. Current members of the Trio are internationally famous musicians - Jitka Čechová on piano, Jiří Vodickaon violin and Jan Páleníček on cello. Smetana Trio regularly performs on prestigious stages, domestic as foreign (French, German, Switzerland, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Slovenia...) and works with leading conductors, such as Jiří Bělohlávek, Michael Boder etc., along with excellent orchestras (Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, della Svizzera italiana Lugano, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire). This Wednesday they will be performing works of Czech composers B. Smetana and V. Novak along with works by brilliant J. Brahms.

On Tuesday, July 9th at Forum square, beginning at 9:30 PM, Croatian RTV Symphony Orchestra and Choir under the direction of Ivo LIPANOVIĆ along with the most honorable Croatian singers, like Valentina Fijačko, Martina Zadro, Dubravka Šeparović Mušović, Ivica Čikeš, Ljubomir Puškarić, Tomislav Mužek and Giorgio Surian, will ceremonially open Musical Evenings.
On a big stage, more than 150 musicians will be celebrating the bicentennial anniversary of birth of two giants of musical romanticism – Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner. Programme which they will perform was a part of this year concert Opera under the stars, traditionally held in Zagreb.
