Last night, Zadar's church capitol, romanesque Chatedral of St. Anastasia, received in its sacred space the musical heart of the city. Zadar Chamber Orchestra was founded more than half a century ago by Croatian most distinguished conductor Pavle Dešpalj. Orchestra along with young musical hopes – conductor Ivan Repušić and soloists, brothers Mario and Jurica Šoša (director of the Musical Evenings) – closed this season with ceremonial concert in the spirit of Zadar and its citizens. They decided to present to its loyal audience two magnificent Mozart’s works, overture to the ‘’Marriage of Figaro’’ and ‘’Concert for two pianos in Es major’’ along with Haydn’s last ‘’London Symphony in D major, no. 104’’ with elements of the Croatian folk art. With its quality work and highly expressed musicality, young musicians, mainly friends from childhood and student days, raised captivated public and elicited loud applause. Mozart’s ‘’Divertimento’’ presented as an encore was not able to quench the musical desire to the insatiable audience, therefore the Orchestra had to repeat famous ‘’Marriage of Figaro’’. Chiabrera and a few anonimous petrarchists, and they are considered to be the first work in this area inspired by the Baroque style at all, in this case with a Baroque monody.
